Software Developer

We seek qualified coop students/interns who have performed well with CIS courses related to database software development, specifically PL/SQL. Duties to include: software development, software testing, customer service, and data management using Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle APEX, spreadsheets. Position will require maturity and ability to work independently. Work will be done remote from Vermont offices.
Qualifications: Coursework related to database software design, PL/SQL, Oracle SQL. Ability to communicate well in spoken English and written English. Experience with HTML, CSS is a plus. Must be able to work remotely and accomplish tasks while working remotely via Skype, chat, email, and phone.

Software Testing

Key responsibilities includes testing database software functionality and documenting failures, issues, and improvements. Storm Petrel produces commercial applications using Oracle APEX hosted at Amazon Web Services. The applications are used local governments who need to manage documents and finances following a natural disaster. This position does NOT require prior knowledge of disasters, local governments, or FEMA.

Qualification include ability to read and write in English, follow complex instructions, basic math skills, and work independently. Candidates may have computer programming background or may have a business background. Candidates with business skills/interests may be pursuing career as business analyst in a software development organization.

Primary skill is typing and clicking systematically through a software application documenting successes and failures, communicating testing results, providing recommendations for improvements based on user’s experience. Secondary skills include¬†sufficient patience to deal with bugs then communicate issues clearly.
